China and Puerto Rico Commerce and Trade Workshop was held on February 24, 2006 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
More than 100 representatives from industrial and commercial sectors of Puerto Rico attending the workshop. Mr. FERNADO BONILLA, the secretary of Puerto Rico delivered an opening remarks for the workshop, and had lunch with all the representatives.
The Consuls of Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Chinese Consulate in Houston and the experts of the related laws gave presentations introducing the Chinese Macro Economy, Sino-U.S. trade relations, Chinese Trade Laws and Chinese Export Commodities Fair, etc. to the audience. Many participants expressed their willingness to visit China and do business with Chinese counterparts.
Secretary BONILLA suggested that because of the special geographical position of Puerto Rico, China may treat it as a transfer hub for Chinese merchandise shipping to central and southern American countries. And he also noted that Puerto Rico would set up economic and trade relationship with China and he planned to lead an delegation to visit China this July.
