21 Million Dollars Contract Signed Between China and Georgia

The Procurement Delegation of China Chamber of Commerce for I/E of Foodstuffs Native Product and By-products visited Atlanta from Apr. 3 to 7, 2006. The group composed of 13 Poultry Processing Companies from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and other cities is a part of the Entrepreneur Delegation led by Vice Premier Wu Yi.

During their visit in Atlanta, Sonny Perdue, Governor of Georgia and the Deputy Secretary of Georgia met the leader and some members of the delegation. Curt Thompson, a state senator of Georgia, Charlice Byrd and Tom Rice, state representatives of Georgia participated in the signing ceremony.

Governor Perdue expressed his warm welcome to the delegation, noting that poultry is major industry of the state of Georgia. He appreciated the procurement of Chinese delegation for promoting the economy of Georgia. On behave of the state government, Deputy Secretary presented the flag of Georgia to the delegation.

After the market investigation and negotiation, China Chamber of Commerce for I/E of Foodstuffs Native Product and By-products signed the memorandum and agreement of cooperation with American Poultry Association. The related Chinese companies signed 21 millions dollars contracts and intended letter for purchasing poultry processing products from American companies. Consul Chen Jianping, Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Houston, coordinated and took part in the above events.
